This took into account the habits of 11,000 randomly selected households and found some interesting statistics. 90% possessed a mobile or smartphone and 80% owned at least one computer. 80% had access to the Internet but the access but more than 2 in 3 users said that the speed was too slow and the price was too high. The majority of people accessed the Internet via mobile broadband and 42% did not have any coverage.

The government of Oman has committed to improving broadband access across the country and aims to have all homes and businesses connected to its national broadband infrastructure by 2040. There are currently a total of four mobile networks offering 3G coverage and there is an Internet penetration rate of 69.8.
